Holidaying in the middle of nowhere

We have been trying to save for a trip to the USA in the Autumn, but Jack has a long summer holiday as a teacher and it would be a long old wait until October without a bit of a break. So we took a little short break and visit the North Penine area, to a gorgeous little cottage.

We stayed from Saturday to Wednesday as we had a wedding in Sussex the following weekend and schools holidays starting meant travelling back any later in the week would have been a nightmare.

The cottage was a great base to visit Hadrians Wall and we took a trip to look around a Roman fort, Vindolanda and well as visiting the sycamore made famous in a scene

We were also away over our second wedding anniversary, so decided to take a day to visit a spa and chill out in our ‘cotton’ robes. We visited Headlam Hall¬†which was roughly an hour’s drive from our cottage, where we had a use of the pool, sauna and steam room, then some lunch and later in the afternoon some lovely treatments. And the sun was shining!

If you haven’t ventured up north for a UK based holiday, I can’t recommend it enough!

Where have you been this summer?

If you ever find yourself in Morfa Nefyn, be sure to walk along the beach to the Ty Coch Inn, which was voted the 3rd best beach bar in the world.
