Autumn is approaching

I can’t wait.

Please, I know, you hate me a bit for wishing away summer. But try to understand.

September means

  • My birthday and frankly that’s something you should all be looking forward to!
  • Jack’s Birthday. I’m biased, but he’s awesome.
  • And this year we are going to BBC Radio 2 live in Hyde Park. I’m pretty darn excited about seeing Elton John, Madness, Gregory Porter and Travis and more.
Madness! Cannot wait, after seeing their set at Glastonbury on the box!

October means

  • Boots, jumpers and scarves! Bring on the knitwear and the layers.
  • Sunday Roasts. I like salads, but really not as much as a veggie roast on a chilly day!
  • Seeing Jamie Lawson (again, he’ll be at BBC Radio 2 Live)
  • Halloween. What’s not to love? (unless you believe it’s related to worshipping satan, which I don’t)

November means

  • Seeing Bears Den
  • A trip to Denmark; we’ve booked such a gorgeous hotel!

  • Bonfire night. I love fireworks. More than I probably should, the environmentalist part of me screams “This is wasteful!”, but a stronger part stares in complete awe.

Don’t get me wrong, summer is great, but once my holiday is out of the way, and I am watching other people enjoy it whilst I work, I could happily skip to layers and falling leaves.

Are you an Autumn lover, or are you clinging on to the last few weeks of Summer?

Autumn Favourites

These past few weeks have been spent getting my head around the changes in temperature and weather. And my favourites probably reflect that…

These past few weeks have been spent getting my head around the fact that summer is over, Autumn is firmly here and my favourites probably reflect that.

Skincare.

Aveeno Moisturiser. I have very dry skin – my hands and feet and elbows especially suffer. When the weather turns a bit colder that’s it. I need to moisturise like crazy. This Aveeno moisturiser has sat a little unloved on the summer months, but at the moment I am thoroughly enjoying slathering it on an night and waking up with super soft hands and heels.

Beauty.

Beauty Blender. Where have you been all my life? I remember only a year or so ago I didn’t even use make up brushes to apply make up. My fingers did all, and I couldn’t work out how even else’s make up looked so much more refined. Now I know – Tools! I love love love this clever little sponge. I almost don’t care that it was £18 for a sponge. Almost.

I bought mine from Space N.K.

Clothing.

Sneaky Sneakers. I am quite often a bit guilty about my unplanned purchases. But the two pairs of Sneakers I bought from New Look a couple of months back have been great. I haven’t lived in them, but I have worn them A LOT.

And now I am eyeing up these beauts from H&M

Homeware.

Space. This is maybe an odd one but we just sold our massive sofa and at the moment I am loving having so much space in the living room.

Candles. Autumn means candle joy. My lovely work friends gave me a delicious smelling fig candle from Oliver Bonas which I have been limiting my burning of. Because I love it so much! And my gorgeous friend Charlotte gave me a set of the White Company’s winter Scent tea lights. Delicious smells all around my home at the moment.

Reasons I love Autumn

I can’t help it. I know it’s strictly speaking still sort of Summer but I love Autumn. I do.

Just some of the reasons:

  1. The leaves turning is spectacular – especially if you get out into the countryside. I think might city dwelling friends might think I’m mad but look!

  1. Lovely things happen in Autumn.. my birthday, Halloween (I’m a fan of pumpkin carving), Bonfire night, Christmas shopping ( I like to start early)Screen Shot 2015-09-08 at 12.43.51 pm
  2. It’s a good temperature for someone who loves living in knitwear.
  3. Sleeping in is easier again as the mornings get a bit darker.
  4. Socks… I can wear socks again!
  5. Eating hot food is like *super* enjoyable
  6. Hot chocolate becomes a more socially acceptable drink
  7. Wellingtons. I love em.

How super cute are these ones from Joules!
  8. Home becomes cosy – candles and blankets and nights in.

Are you excited for the arrival of Autumn? Or are you mourning the end of summer?

Wardrobe Update

I have been (as usual) looking forward to the start of Autumn. I love laying, I love knitwear and socks and the excuse to wear a scarf.

Also by early August I and my feet are bored of flip flops and sandals – give me boots, sneakers and slippers.

There are a few things I already have my eye on and a few things I already have that I am looking forward to wearing this Autumn.

And lastly for now, although I have no need for a new coat and I would definitely spill hot chocolate down it on it’s first outing I am in love with thiswinter-coat-hm.

What have you got your eye on at the moment?
