Summer Holiday: What I’m packing

I’m going to Majorca for a week in July and this rain has got me thinking about sunshine and ice-cream. This year I have a new carry on case to take with me. And that’s all I’m taking. So what am I going to pack?

Let’s start with my new case, recently bought online from bags etc, which if I’m being honest is because you can collect Avios via them and it was a really great price.

I have three swimsuits on the go at the moment. My favourite is the bright green halterneck. They are all from Marks & Spencer, because I trust them, they keep their shape and hold things where things need to be held. No itsy, bitsy triangle bikinis for me.

I have a few pairs to pack. Two from H&M, one Dotty P and one Marks & Spencer pair. They all have a similar length and three of them have excellent pocket depth.

Gap wins here. I really only tend to wear dresses in the evening, when going out for dinner, when it’s a little cooler. Three dresses: two white, one black.

Keeping things simple with a couple of vests, and a couple of t-shirts.

Wearing sneakers on the flight, black haviannas, m&s silver sandals.

When I travel I like to be comfy, and I get super cold on airplanes, so I’ll be travelling in my nike leggings, Converse sneakers, a long t-shirt and a hoody. I like to have a sensible option to travel in, because you just don’t know what weather you will get when you arrive back in the UK. After a week of sun, the UK cold can be a bit of a shock to the system. I have also been caught at an airport at 1am due to a delayed flight in a sundress – that chilly at 1am!

In terms of make up and toiletries, I’ll likely take a very minimal amount of make-up and we tend to buy sunscreen and shampoo etc out there for Jack and I to share. One of the perks of this trip is we’re staying at my Grandparents flat, so we can leave anything not finished for my sister and parents who are staying there the week after us.

Are you of on holiday this summer? Do you have any tips for packing light?

Outfit of the Day – 16 Apr 2016

New kind of post for me… I am heading up to London for lunch with my lovely friend Charlotte, and we are heading to the Darwin Brasserie, which is based in the Sky Garden.

Afterwards we are heading for a little (window) shopping trip, before I head to visit my old buddy Alice at her new London dwelling for some dinner.

So, today’s outfit has to tick a few boxes:

  • Comfy
  • Smart-ish (which I interperet as black)
  • Weather-proof
From the top: T-shirt from Zara, Sweatshirt from H&M, Essie Nail Polish, Storm Sunglasses from TK Maxx, Love Knot Ring from Silverado, Jeans from M&S, Chanel Chance (eau Tendre), Shoes from Adidas Neo range

Beauty Favourites – Spring 2016

I haven’t written a favourites post in a little while, so here is a very short round up of some of the products I have been loving lately. Pretty short and sweet, as I’ve been trying not to shop during lent.

Gucci’s Flora

I have to force myself not to wear this too often. It’s the scent I bought specially for our wedding, and came on honeymoon with us, so wearing it brings back lovely memories. I love how feminine the scent is, it’s my favourite date night perfume at the moment.

L’Oreal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Clay Re-Balancing Shampoo and Conditioner

This set is like the perfect range for my hair. My roots are all natural, as I am growing out years of highlights the end of my hair still need a good conditioner and these lovely products leave my scalp feeling super clean and my hair tips feeling nourished.

I have been using this 2 to 3 times a week recently, and it leaves my skin feeling amazing. At full price it’s pretty pricey, £18, I did buy it when Waitrose had an offer on. I am not sure that I would repurchase at full price, but I have just finished it, so I had better hunt one down soon or find a good replacement!

What I want to try next from balance me – Their Congested Skin Serum – it has some brilliant reviews.

Lee Stafford’s Hair Growth Treatment – For hair that never grows past a certain length

FullSizeRender (3)

I’ve no idea yet what the long lasting positives of this treatment might be, as I have only been using it for a few weeks, but I love how my hair feels the first few days after I have used this treatment which recommends weekly use. I’m definitely going to be repurchasing, but as to whether it aids growth, or just keeps my hair feeling healthy I’m not sure, but also not too worried about.

What have you been enjoying lately? Do you have any recommendations for me?

Autumn Favourites

These past few weeks have been spent getting my head around the changes in temperature and weather. And my favourites probably reflect that…

These past few weeks have been spent getting my head around the fact that summer is over, Autumn is firmly here and my favourites probably reflect that.

Aveeno Moisturiser. I have very dry skin – my hands and feet and elbows especially suffer. When the weather turns a bit colder that’s it. I need to moisturise like crazy. This Aveeno moisturiser has sat a little unloved on the summer months, but at the moment I am thoroughly enjoying slathering it on an night and waking up with super soft hands and heels.

Beauty Blender. Where have you been all my life? I remember only a year or so ago I didn’t even use make up brushes to apply make up. My fingers did all, and I couldn’t work out how even else’s make up looked so much more refined. Now I know – Tools! I love love love this clever little sponge. I almost don’t care that it was £18 for a sponge. Almost.

I bought mine from Space N.K.

Sneaky Sneakers. I am quite often a bit guilty about my unplanned purchases. But the two pairs of Sneakers I bought from New Look a couple of months back have been great. I haven’t lived in them, but I have worn them A LOT.

And now I am eyeing up these beauts from H&M

Space. This is maybe an odd one but we just sold our massive sofa and at the moment I am loving having so much space in the living room.

Candles. Autumn means candle joy. My lovely work friends gave me a delicious smelling fig candle from Oliver Bonas which I have been limiting my burning of. Because I love it so much! And my gorgeous friend Charlotte gave me a set of the White Company’s winter Scent tea lights. Delicious smells all around my home at the moment.

Wardrobe Update

I have been (as usual) looking forward to the start of Autumn. I love laying, I love knitwear and socks and the excuse to wear a scarf.

Also by early August I and my feet are bored of flip flops and sandals – give me boots, sneakers and slippers.

There are a few things I already have my eye on and a few things I already have that I am looking forward to wearing this Autumn.

I love a pair of sneakers, or two and added these tweedy ones to my collection recently. (New Look)

Who doesn’t love a bit of sparkle for Autumn winter… I certainly do, and picked up these comfies from New Look for a bargain price.

This classic striped knit from H&M

I am currently hoping that Dotty P get these in in the Tall range…

And lastly for now, although I have no need for a new coat and I would definitely spill hot chocolate down it on it’s first outing I am in love with thiswinter-coat-hm.

What have you got your eye on at the moment?

Wish List – Clothes

I’m trying, trying trying to drop another dress size before we get hitched in the summer. Which means trying not to shop too much until I am the size I will be for July, else I’ll only get to wear the clothes for a little little while.

If I were shopping furiously, whole-heartedly I would be buying some ( or all) of the following beauts (which seem to be mostly from ASOS):

Don’t judge too harshly, but I think I’d like to try rocking some Flares again.

Little bit in love with this Crop Top and it comes in THREE colours!

I am in love with this Dress. I have some hen dos to go to this year and I would love love love to don this for one of them (I must not eat biscuits… I must not eat biscuits..).

What I can do whilst I am downsizing myself (half a stone to go) is buy shoes  and I’m dreaming of summer so I can where Sandals like these.

The Gifts

I hope you all enjoyed yourselves over the Christmas break, and are all as thrilled with the lovely things you might have recieved from your loved ones. I have been throughly spoilt, and am going to show off just a few of the very generous and awesome gifts I was lucky enough to be given.

The loop Candle stick Holder.

My lovely aunt gave J and I this, and I had actually been coveting it in England At Home (where it is available in store) only last week. It also available online at, who make it, and lots of other awesome things.

My sister, Fran, is obviously keen on spoiling me because she gave my this amazing camera, which I have been annoying everyone with since!

Make your own Lampshade!

J has clearly noticed that I am try to be a bit more crafty these days and has challenged me with this beaut. I think it’s also from England at Home.

Video Camera

To carry on with the documenting of life theme: Cam recorder from my parents, tripod and all. Wedding speeches will be caught for future viewing (for sober viewing).

I was given my very first ever yankee candle and my first white company candle. Our home is smelling all kinds of delicious at the moment. Screen Shot 2015-01-05 at 16.07.04

Cath Kidston

My little brother gave me a gift card for Cath Kidtson, which I put towards some bedding that I have had my heart set on for about 5 years. Needless to say J is less than impressed with the floral theme, but is very forgiving!Screen Shot 2015-01-05 at 16.43.00

Shine and Sparkle

Nail varnish is a bit of a personal obsession of mine. I don’t have a favourite brand, or colour per say, but I do feel a huge amount of joy come wintertime when glitter and shimmer varnishes are aplenty!

These are my Winter Favourites.

Left to Right: H&M, Nails Inc., MaxFactor, Barry M, Nail Pop

The Midi

I think I’ve fallen for the Midi. Not sure how flattering it is on me. 5ft9 means some are knee length and some are ankle grazers… but check out these beauts!
